Languages of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is a multilingual country with Arabic being the official language. Arabic is deeply ingrained in the culture and is the language of daily communication, education, and government affairs. The specific dialect of Arabic spoken in Saudi Arabia is known as Najdi Arabic, which is widely understood and used throughout the kingdom.

Apart from Arabic, English is also widely used, especially in urban areas, as it is taught in schools and is the primary language for international business and trade. English proficiency has been growing in recent years, making it easier for visitors and expatriates to communicate with the local population.

In addition to Arabic and English, there are various other languages spoken by expatriate communities living in Saudi Arabia. Urdu, Tagalog, Bengali, and Malayalam are some of the languages spoken by foreign workers from South Asia, while Spanish and various African languages are spoken by other expatriate communities.
